Round the Twist

Annandale's Easter display is good enough to eat!

I often feel like a whirling dervish, spinning at lightning pace around the Inner West. Going from store to store wreaking havoc and leaving a trail of well stocked and organised shops behind me. It’s taken me four hours and a lime and soda, just to work out what happened today! But this is what I remember.

We received Alison Jay books, Penny Scallan gumboots and raincoats, This Is Books, Radio Flyer tricycles, head bands and hair clips from Rare Rabbit, and rainbow mary-janes from Walnut. Hooray!

Penny Scallan Car gumboots $39.99. Very limited stock. Sizes European 24 and 25 only.

Penny Scallan gumboots $39.99. Very limited stock. Sizes European 24 and 25 only.

Teeny weeny Toshi beanies and booties.

So what if I break my promises?…

So what if I was so busy at work on Saturday, that there wasn’t a single second to snap some pics of the products, like I promised I would in last weeks blog? So what if I said I spent all today re-jigging the stores after such a busy weekend and I still didn’t have a minuscule moment to take some shots? For what its worth, I’m sorry. But never mind, I seem to have found other opportunities in the time space continuum to take more…

So… this week at Infancy, we are all about everything soft and cuddly. Soft colours and cuddly toys. Beanies, cardigans, mittens and blankets and a whole lot of BUNNIES! (Maybe a few Lions too, just for variety)

Toshi beanies have arrived, in some seriously lovely colours. Muted tones and interesting patterns seem to be a theme this season. And to keep those little itty bitty fingers warm, mittens! And to keep those itty bitty fingers busy during Easter lunch, Alimrose squeakers!

Also on display this week, pastels… I fall in and out of love with pastels. One week I’m all “ooh and ahh”, the next, “get it away from me”! This week, I’m all “whatever goes”! Especially with the happy news of another little arrival in my circle of friends! Calming and quiet creams, whites, aquas, pinks, lilacs and effervescent yellow!

Our first Easter window is up, lolloping in its own happiness. Our crafty queen Victoria, has hand made divine Easter bunting especially for each store, with coloured and patterned papers and ribbon.

And last but not least. Shoes. We’ve pretty much got the full gamut now. We have pre-walkers from Old Soles and Tip Toey Joey, four styles from each, two for boys and two for girls, and for Winter… booties! We have brown and red leather fur-lined booties to keep the coldest of feet warm. AND for the big kids canvas slip-ons and mary janes, suede desert boots, leather loafers from Walnut. Not to mention, ugg boots, gumboots, and slipper socks. Having said that, they have all been pretty popular in the last few weeks, so if we don’t have the size you need please leave your details with us and we will endeavour to get them in.

5 second blog.

Another delightful display in Newtown, by our very own Victoria! Do I spy bunnies there? I think I do!

So… Today we received Lil Fraser wraps, David Fasseneger bunny rugs, more beanies from Acorn, and OLD SOLES pre-walkers. Only hitch, they are the one thing I didn’t take a photo of! I promise to post a run down of the styles, on facebook, as soon I can snap them! Oh! Oh and new tees from Well Spotted popped in too! No photo there either, sorry. Stay tuned.

A new board book, with peek-a-boo monkey and some more divine alphabet flash/wall cards.

So many of my favourite toys in one place at the same time!

La la la! Sunshine makes it all ok!

I’ve so much to tell you! Lots of wonderful things have hit our shelves since last week, and as a result all our lovely Infancy staff, myself included, are wandering around in zombie-like states,  overwhelmed by the sheer volume of product to organise! But I think we’re nearly on top of it.

Today we received new hand-crocheted blankets from And the Little Dog Laughed, alphabet wall cards from Eeboo, and a handful of comfortable unisex items from Shampoodle, mini fabric babushka dolls and birds, and just a hint of bunnies…

Read to me Alphabet wall cards $56

Hardware alphabet wall cards $56

And the Little Dog Laughed Hand-crocheted blanket $78

And the Little Dog laughed hand-crocheted blanket in pink $78

Sunshine in a onesie! Shampoodle organic cotton suit $35

And from last week, piles and piles of Ouch Clothing! Including long sleeved tops, cardigans, babywear, trousers, skirts, puffa jackets, zip up vests, beanies, for both boys and girls.

Rozelle's plethora of winter girls clothing, finally in some semblance of order.

And of course a generous selection of boyswear from Ouch, Freshbaked and Munster.

It’s not even remotely cold today and I still want a Minimink.

… And I’ll take it with or without the complimentary sleeping baby! Preferably with. This season we seem to get the woolly winter things and rain gear on sparklingly sunny days. Weird. Although, if its any thing like this Summer just passed, Winter might not even get that cold. Just tease us with a bit of rain and breath of wind but never get quite cold enough to get out the beanie or the trench coat. Oh Climate Change, you saucy minx!

Australian label, Minimink,  is now in its 8th year of business! “It all started in 2003,  with one product – the rug/wrap/throw.
Not surprisingly, this product continues to be a best seller as it is such a versatile, luxurious and useful piece.  You only need to take this one rug out to keep baby warm, wrap him/her in, use as a play rug, a throw, and wash it again and again while maintaining the same beautiful quality.  AND, there is nothing better than having every second person admire your rug (and of course your baby)!!”

The faux fur (also called ecological fur as no animal has been harmed) is manufactured specifically for Minimink. The softness of the faux fur has to be felt to be believed and it is this quality that has established Minimink as a high quality label world-wide.

Infancy stocks the rug/wrap/ throw in milk (pictured), honey and chocolate. They are $99.95 and they make the perfect gift for a Winter baby. Or just for you!

Back to Blog.

What a crazy week! Even without the diabolical weather, the loads of deliveries and the blog being on deaths door, I’m sitting here on the couch, red wine in hand and mini Magnum recently devoured, watching Psychic Tv, thinking what on earth just happened?!! And its not even over! There’s still the weekend! I’ve checked the Bureau of Meteorology website and the forecast isn’t perfect but its not a flood warning, like the rest of the state. So that’s got to be good!

I wonder why I always talk about the weather? I don’t live on a farm? I must be connected to mother nature or something. (Maybe too much time spent watching Psychic Tv) In other news, our Infancy stores are filling up with beautiful new clothing, toys and books! Do pop in to have a look, you never know what you might find!

Off to bed now. x
