Retro Styling

German designer Graziela Preiser was huge in the 1970s! Her unique designs were made internationally famous by press coverage and acclaim, especially through the magazine ‘Brigitte’ which had many popular mail order pieces all designed by her.

By 1973, the name Graziela had become a successful brand, appealing equally to parents and children. Her designs were a eye-catching combination of cheerful colours and clear timeless graphics for all ages.

Since then Graziela has worked as a successful creative director, graphic designer and illustrator, alongside her work for several lifestyle-magazines, she has created and designed a variety of homeware collections, ranging from linen and children’s fashion to kitchen crockery.

(This is Graziela circa 1978 in her studio working away… She’s sporting a seriously funky crocheted vest there!)

Almost 40 years later, mother and daughter have re-launched Preiser’s iconic, Award-winning designs as “By Graziela”. The ABC poster was designed in 1970 and the farm poster later in 1976.

A truckload of “Ouch” has arrived!

This is the back of my Infancy car this morning, full to bursting as I left to deliver the stock to Annandale and Rozelle. I’m sure blocking the rear view mirror is very dangerous but I managed to navigate my way through the Inner West without incident. I’m sure many visitors to our stores are familiar with the sight of Infancy ladies hauling armfuls of Chinese laundry bags and cardboard boxes down the streets. Well this was one of those days!

These puffer jackets are just the tiny lid off the rather bounteous jar of stock that has come in. But I thought seeing the mornings are starting to get a little ‘fresh’, something snuggly might be useful. Soft and downy these jackets are even better than last winters. There are two colours in each style, red and I think bone grey in the shorter style and fushia pink and biege in the longer trench style below.

We also received trousers, dresses, sloppy-joes, tops and a great selection of girls stockings. The stock across our stores will vary, as will the available sizes and colours in each style, but we are always happy to transfer individual items on request. I will try and snap some more shots of the range asap.

New Babywear

These divine all-in-ones have just arrived from Bluebird and Honey. I’ve photographed the stripey versions, but there is also a patterned suit for boys and girls, in sizes 0-3 months and 3-6 months. The animal characters for this season are penguins and ducks, appliqued on soft stretchy cotton. As of tomorrow, they are available online and in our Annandale store, but very soon they will make it to Newtown and Rozelle.

So Frenchy, So Chic…

What a glorious day after all that rain! The sun was streaming in the windows of our Annandale store today, flooding our delicate range of new season baby giftware, and I just had to take a quick snap.

Love Mae wall stickers are back, including some new designs, a pirate ship and also a circus, in soft muted tones. Also in stock are alphabet stickers, a tree and forest creatures.

We’ve also received a new delivery of Hand crocheted toys from Pebble. These toys are hand-made in Bangladesh as a part of a Fair Trade project. They make sweet and original gifts for new babies or baby showers. This season we got some crocheted blankets as well, made from cotton they are perfect for use in the cot, pram, basinet or as a light wrap.

I popped this photo in as well as I just love the colours. Soft greys and blues, so French! Peasant dresses from Willow and Finn and also some new Tunics from Infancy, with a striking letter print.

P.S. We’ve had the most fantastic response to the new raincoats and gumboots, as mentioned in the last blog. Although it’s not surprising considering the weather over the weekend, we have sold out of some sizes, but just so you know we’ve ordered more!

Raincoats and Gumboots

Wet weather gear is in from Ouch and Penny Scallan. Raincoats sizes 2-7/8 and gumboots sizes European 23-30. Some sizes are selling fast, so pop in for a fitting and we can usually source a different size from one of our other stores. The patterns are, apples and cars, from Penny Scallan and spots and planes from Ouch.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I really couldn’t find a picture on the web, so I took one myself. These comfy sock slippers will keep tootsies warm in winter around the house. They come in red and navy and are in sizes XS (about 1-2years) up to XL (about 5-6 years+).

All the leaves are brown… nearly

Winter is on the horizon, and despite the relentless humidity everything is rather grey. This week our stores are sporting skate style street wear windows. Comfy trousers, layered tops and warm vests.

New stock is coming in just about every week and the variety of styles is really exciting. We’ve already seen the new season Ouch styles and some new brands like kiniki, chino, and Shampoodle, but there’s still more to come.

Winter staples like Ouch and Infancy puffa vests have arrived and are already running off the shelves, as well as Ouch winter PJ sets and girls zip up hoodie vests.

New from Walnut this winter are slippers! Well they’re kind of sock slippers. I’ve searched the internet for a photo of them, but have come up with nothing, so I’ll have to snap one in the shop tomorrow. They’re a knitted sock but with a suede sole, but for big kids. I’m pretty sure my brother and I had them as kids, or something like them, to keep our feet warm on the wooden floorboards.

Get Native!

These shoes are seriously cool. And practical. We’ve got red and navy in the Miller style, in sizes 4/5, 6/7, 8/9, 10/11, which computes roughly as 1-5 yrs. Perfect for the beach, playground or pre-school, these shoes are gonna rock your world.

Shampoodle!

Shampoodle has got to be the coolest clothing brand on the block. Straight from those crazy kids over in Sweden, the range is 100% organic cotton, comfy and stylish.

We’ve only got a taste of the range so far, harem pants, jeans, loose fit tops and track pants but one thing is for certain, it’s going to be a big hit this season!

Another brand just in is, Kiniki. Check out these funky long johns.

Monkey madness! There’s also a kombi print in red if my memory serves me. And matching long sleeved tops. Day time, night time, play time, they’re gonna keep a lot of legs warm.
