KIDO EDUCATIONAL TOYS

This week at Infancy we have received our delivery of toys from the ‘Kido’ New York range, this is what stands behind their principles.

The Montessori philosophy of education and childhood development is at the heart of Kid O’s physical space design and the selection of products. The low, open shelving allows children to feel comfortable interacting with the objects on display and with the scale of the space. We carry products that are well made and have some educational or imaginative component, following the teaching that a few, lasting toys with a multitude of uses and possibilities are much better for a child than a huge, and potentially overwhelming selection of toys.

Maria Montessori, one of the first female physicians in Italy, developed the Montessori teaching method starting in 1907 with her now famous “Children’s house.” Through close observation of a group of children, Montessori recognized their innate ability to guide their own educational process by initiating projects and setting their own pace. Within a “prepared environment” populated with objects that encourage direct and non-direct introduction to mathematical, scientific and language development, a child can shape the learning practices that are best suited to their needs and wants. From a very young age, Montessori taught us, children are fully capable of learning to respect their belongings, cleanliness and order as they develop an excitement about concentrating on projects and learning “with all five senses.” Montessori developed materials to stimulate learning that are still used today across the world.

All Things Pink and Pretty

We have quite a pink theme happening this week , with some great new additions to the Infancy stores this week. We have just received the first of our two summer drops of Princess Ratbag skirts. First to arrive are the beautiful pink and tea rose skirts. These skirts are so very popular – the elastic and drawstring style waist band ensures the skirts will fit ages 18 months – 4 years , making it a great purchase.

Our second arrival is the new collection from Flo Dance wear. Designed by Felicia Leoncelli senior artist from the Australian ballet who has now turned her talents to design- presenting a delightful range of casual , dance inspired fashion for girls.

And lastly we have a new range of hair accessories brought to us by Soonca. Look out for the most divine grosgrain hair bows, polka dot hair clips and head bands.

Now just imagine all of these beautiful ballet inspired accessories matched back with this season’s walnut ballet flats- gosh we love pink!
