A new season is upon us

Just recently we made an urgent call out to Barb an old friend at Jinky Art to help us with our winter photo shoot.

While we love our new winter range , I also cannot believe what a fabulous job she has done .
This new range will be in store late February, but for now here is a sneak peak.

Homemade Baby Food – Some tasty new suggestions

So many new parents struggle to come up with flavourful selections for their little ones first forays into the world of food. Gabrielle over at Honest Fare has been experimenting with some new recipes to make in advance and freeze for daily use, because let’s face it the stuff in the supermarket is full of preservatives and fails in the flavor department.

But it call all be a bit scary because there are so many rules and half-rules about what you should and shouldn’t give little ones at first.
The flavours she suggested were:

1. Baked cinnamon apple and prune
2. Baked cinnamon apple, prune and yogurt (everybody’s favorite)
3. Zucchini and potato
4. Peas with mint
5. Baked apple with carrot
6. Sweet potato

For some great fool-proof instructions to help you get your confidence up so you can start inventing your own creations, visit her over at Honest Fare.

Bottles for Heating Milk on the Go – without electricity?

There’s an interesting new product that has come out in early developmental stages in the US by designer Rashid Karim. It (though you may be tell at first from the design) is a baby bottle that you can use to heat milk to blood temperature on the go. To heat, no electricity is required instead you insert a disposable capsule into the base of the bottle and push. The capsule contains only salt and water and works by creating heat from the rehydration energy from dehydrated salt. The bottle itself is made from fully recyclable BPA-free polypropylene and the capsules are biodegradable.
It’s a very clever and interesting design but I still don’t know what I think about it. The portability would make it a great asset particularly to mothers with very young babies they aren’t able to breastfeed but even with their biodegradability the disposable capsules are a bit of a waste worry. It will be interesting to see what price it enters the US market place at as I imagine that will be the deciding factor as to if this design lasts. I’m curious to know what you think.
