So glad to be sitting on my couch right now. I’m mean, Adelaide was a blast but so much effort! All that partying and dressing up and meeting exciting people and going out to dinner and getting on planes. Wow. It really takes it out of you. I feel like a year has passed. And stepping back into the stores today I nearly thought it had!

I went around the stores and literally snapped a photo of every display I saw.  Each one more beautiful than the next! Enjoy.

Love hearts. My mum told me that when I was little I would always say ‘love hearts’, never just hearts. Everyone had ‘love hearts’ inside them and Grandpa died of a ‘love heart attack’ etc… And today I’ve seen love hearts everywhere! In the shop windows, including ours, in the little smiling faces of the babies and children who’ve come into visit, and last week, I saw slightly crazed love hearts, in the eyes of all the mums snapping up bargains during the sale. Ah, love.

This week my love heart is thumping for all the new stock coming through the doors. There are some seriously beautiful things in all of the ranges that has arrived so far. Ouch knitwear is going to be hot property this season, I can feel it. Our first drop of Purebaby is flying out the door already. I nearly wept over a pair of knit leggings with a customer last week, they were just too cute! Love, as always, goes to Penny Scallan rain jackets in stars, cars and apples, for making even the rainiest days just that little bit brighter. And I’ve got a huge crush on the new Walnut Desert boots. I practically fall over myself every time I see them in store.

I think I just blushed thinking about them! Oh dear. Better go and make dinner.

Wow! Another day done. We’re up to day two of our spectacular Summer clearance sale and I’m absolutely pooped. I don’t know about you but I’d like to spend a few hours sitting in a quiet, dark room, by myself, sipping luke-warm water and finding some “inner peace”. I suppose I’ll make it through… Besides there’s only 3 days to go!

That’s right! Only 3 days left to snap up some serious summer bargains! I spent most of today explaining to our lovely awestruck customers, “that yes, that entire wall of clothes is 50% off the marked price, and yes, it’s sounds too good to be true, but it is!” And the rest of the day oogling at all the gorgeous little babies people had brought shopping. So cute! Please bring more babies, it keeps morale high!

My dog has completely given up on going to the park. Instead he sits morosely on his cushion on the back of the couch, staring wistfully out the window. I don’t blame him. It’s pretty dreary out there. Today I ferried the new deliveries from store to store, battling wet roads, minimal visibility and absolutely no parking spaces in Annandale, whilst trying to keep the stock from getting wet.

We received Wheelie Bug ride-ons, the infamous Make me Iconic Sydney Ferries, Gimmo Night lights, Mini Monkey Slings and wooden Babushka dolls. We also got some more Jacob and Bonomi blankets which seem to be flying out the door. Although, I’m not surprised considering the sudden drop in temperature.

Anyway, I’m off to get my wellies on and take this depressed little dog for a very wet walk. Wish me luck.

I’m not completely freaking out that today was the last day of January, just moderately freaking out. And it doesn’t help that February looks like a real back breaker from here. But I suppose anything is more achievable with the kiddies back at school and the grown-ups settling back into more regular work hours. At least there will be less people at a “certain cafe in Camperdown” of a weekday, it was beginning to get totally out of control!

Though, at Infancy, it’s all pretty relaxed. We’re getting ready for the big Summer you-know-what, seeing some beautiful new stock arrive for the coming Autumn season and re-filling the shelves with our old favourites.

 

 

Got a sweet tooth? I know I do. And a savoury tooth too. In fact a tooth for every kind of food. Knowing this, I’m very proud of myself for only eating half a musk stick, two marshmallows and one meringue whilst doing the window today. I’m inspired to have a tea party for my birthday, just so I can buy half the contents of the window! I recently bought plastic straws, but even so I am sorely tempted to buy the paper candy stripe ones! There are party invites, lolly bags, paper patty cases for cupcakes, cardboard cupcake stands, paper lanterns and toothpick flags.

This week at Infancy we have received a small top up from Ouch clothing for both boys and girls. We’ve tried to wrangle as many 0-2s for all of those growing toddlers and some great trans-seasonal styles for 3-7s. Sizes are limited so get in quick.

Oh January, you crazy month! Rain, sunshine, tropical thunderstorms, the Sydney Festival, children everywhere traveling in packs, exhausted parents, sweltering expectant mothers pacing the streets, less cars on the road… What a dream come true!! Although, there is an unpleasant lack of good coffee shops open, within walking distance of the shop. Starting to dream about coffee.

This week at Infancy it is well and truly a new year. New stock, new directions, new adventures! (As you can tell, I’m trying to stay positive) We have a Sapling promotion, to accompany the new stock, simply ‘like’ Sapling child and Infancy on facebook and go in the draw to win a Sapling baby gift pack! And who wouldn’t want that! Their products are GORGEOUS! Soft organic fabrics, sensible sizing and divine prints. Where do I enter?….

As mentioned on facebook, a new range of toddler clothing, called Crochet Bambini, has arrived in store. (You can see them hanging on the rack in the back of the above photo) Cute cute cute crochet vest and coats, crochet bloomers and some seriously cuddly toys. My favourites are the lion and monkey! But any of the toys would a make a great addition to a baby gift.

 

30% off Maternity clothing continues in store, with a good range of sizes still left. I assume it’s pretty hot and awkward being pregnant and in a fitting room, but do pop in and try something on, only then will you know just how comfortable and versatile this range is.

Phew!! It’s hot out there baby! My shoulders are burnt just from carrying new stock to the shops from the car! But at least it’s sunny. I’d rather it balmy than another tropical thunderstorm. Thankyou very much Mr weather-man!

Hello all! I hope you’re Christmas shopping is going well, or done. I did a last minute run around today just getting that little something extra for a few special people. It was worth the harrowing expedition to the shops. I feel much better.

If you’re still looking for that little something extra pop in to Infancy.  There’s still time. All our stores are open Friday 23rd 9.30am-4.30pm, and Christmas Eve Saturday 24th 9.30am-1pm. We have lots of lovely bits and pieces for newborns, children 1-7 years and a few things for new or expectant parents.

On that note, I just thought I should share with you the superb display our wonderful Victoria has done at the Newtown store. Stocking fillers, laid out in all their glory!

Just so you know… Our holiday hours are:

Closed from 1pm Saturday 24th December (Christmas Eve)

This year our Newtown store will be opening on the 28th, 29th and 30th from 10am-3pm.

All stores will re-open in the new year on Wednesday 4th January.
